What We’re Crushing on This Week: 10.3.20

  • Forbes’ Michelle Williams shares amazing Texas white wines. (Forbes)
  • Smoke taint is tough. Many track guaiacol (goo-why-a-col) levels but they are only part of the answer. We had 2017 wines that tasted like camp fire but low amounts of guaiacol. There’s still more to understand to obtain a solution. Australian Wine Research Institute has a cool starting resource if you are curious. (AWRI)
  • Our hearts go out to Napa & Sonoma. The fire speed is really unimaginable unless you see it first hand. It’s an amazing feat, and credit to the First Responders to evacuate over 40,000 people at midnight with nearly zero deaths. (SF Gate)
  • Our general take around here on the internet is as follows: “Cool. You do you, man.” Take Ava Vogel, for example, who says, “I jump around and I gallop around on all four legs and try to mimic a horse as best I can”.(UPI)
